How many hours of volunteering do you need for DofE?
As a rule of thumb, a three month section equates to at least 13 hours of activity, six months to 26 hours and 12 months to 52 hours.
How many hours a week do you need for silver DofE?
The Silver and Gold levels can work in a very similar way, with additional weeks logged, as required. The Award is more like a marathon than a sprint. You should spend an average of 1 hour per week on your activities. However, we understand that you may be busy some weeks.
How many hours do you have to do for silver Duke of Ed?
Silver is the second level of the Award, and takes a minimum of 6 months to complete if you have completed Bronze or 12 months if you have not completed Bronze – Direct Entry. You can start your Silver Award as soon as you’ve completed your Bronze. If you have not completed Bronze then you must be 15 to start Silver.
Can you fail DofE?
It is not possible to fail a DofE award, but you can fail expeditions or have evidence rejected. This means that in some instances individuals will have to redo an expedition, or even restart entire sections.
Can you do DofE at any age?
Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.
Is it worth doing Silver DofE?
Silver DofE is where the DofE qualification becomes much more impressive. It shows higher levels of commitment and the expeditions are notably tougher. With a Silver DofE Award you can start to talk much more confidently about the transferrable skills you learned during your Award, with the qualification to back it up.
Can my friend be my DofE assessor?
An Assessor checks on your progress and agrees the completion of a section of your programme. They must be independent. Therefore, they cannot be a member of your family.
What age can you start DofE?
Participants can start their Silver DofE programme when they are in the school year in which they turn 15. They must already be 16 before they can start their Gold DofE programme. Within DofE rules, the school year starts on August 1st.
How many miles do you walk for DofE Silver?
How far do you walk on DofE? The distance you walk per day on DofE varies between awards. A standard distance to walk is 16km per day on Bronze, 19km per day on Silver, and 23km per day on Gold. Naturally, some groups will do less than this, and others more.
How much is Duke of Edinburgh Award?
The DofE endeavours to keep your costs down so the current Welcome Pack, which includes the participation fee, is £23.00 for the Bronze Award, £23.00 for Silver and £30.00 for Gold.
